Double diabetes: Double diabetes is when a type 1 diabetic becomes obese and develops Insulin resistance at the same time. This person now will need very high dose Insulin to overcome the Insulin resistant currently exist. The treatment is Insulin and oral diabetic medications (medications that makes Insulin work better). This is a lifelong disease. U can "comfort" your child by giving him/her the proper training.

Follow MD advice: Double diabetes is a serious illness. Either type of diabetes alone is bad enough, having both requires careful attention to diet, exercise, weight loss and medication. You can be supportive of the child's efforts toward self-care and in complying with the doctor's instructions.
