What can't you do ?: What you can't do is leave it alone... It will only get worse over time. In the end you will still need to see a dentist, so the sooner you call the sooner you will feel better.

Toothaches: Take some otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you would normally take for a headache. Call a dentist as soon as possible for treatment and relief. That's it, pure and simple. Not much else you can do on your own if you want to get out of pain.

Don't do....: Don't wait. Do go see a dentist. Don't irritate the tooth. Take some pain meds. Don't be your own doctor. There are many things my patients had tried, but inevitably, it only gets worse.
