How do you define premature prolonged rupture of membranes?

PPROM: Premature means less than term. So the gestational age of the pregnancy would be less than 37 weeks. Prolonged refers to the period from ruptured membranes until labor occurs. This is called the latent period and varies with gestational age. Generally, prolonged would be more than 24 hours.
