18-24 hours: After 37 weeks of pregnancy, if your water is broken for greater than 18 hrs, you are considered having prolonged rupture of membranes in the context of deciding whether or not you need antibiotics to prevent against neonatal infection if your gbs test results are not available. In most other contexts, 24 hrs is considered the threshold.
