Count calories: Unfortunately, the only way to reliably lose weight is to count calories and eat less than about 1200 per day (for a female). This target can be changed on based on your weight loss success. If you lose more than 4lb per week then it can be increased to 1400, if less than 2lb per week then reduced to 1000. Myfitnesspal or lose it.Com are good resources. Some people do well on low carb diets also.
