A member asked:

Do you think i should be looking for an orthopedic or neurologist doctor to operate on a herniated disk?

Either may do: Herniated discs can be treated by either an orthopaedic or neurosurgeon. Look for someone who specializes in the spine and has experience. Options include traditional open versus new minimally invasive techniques, both have excellent outcomes. Neurologists treat conditions (including herniated discs) medically, not surgically.

Spine surgery: Either an ortho surgeon or neurosurgeon can operate on the spine. Your choice will depend on the doctor's experience and your comfort level with that person.
