Different techniques: A gallbladder us is focussed on the gallbladder, not the liver. Mild fatty liver may not be easily appreciated on us depending on the patient size and acoustic conditions. A non contrast ct allows for measurement of the actual density of the liver and compare it to the spleen to better quantify the liver fat. Also, what one radiologist feels is within normal may be mildly fatty to another.
