LASIK : Lasik is a refractive laser surgery on the cornea, or front surface of the eye. There are other types of lasers which are used for retinal treatment, but lasik is not one of them.

The retina is the membrane lining the inside of the back portion of the eye (like the film in the camera). Retinal surgery is generally done for serious, often sight threatening conditions or diseases.
