Hairs vs fungus: Everyone has some degree of hair in the outer portion of the ear canal, so that could be totally normal ear hair. With that said, sometimes fungal outer ear infections can have black debris (usually more like dots of black but can be more wiry). If that's what you have, Amoxicillin isn't the treatment and you will need the ear cleaned out (often by an ent) and special drops. Good luck!
