NO : Budd chiari syndrome is due to hepatic vein thrombosis (obstruction) , most likely cause in him is due to congenital webs. Now he no longer has it after transplantation.

Budd Chiari gone: The liver transplant should have cured the budd chiari for your son. There are some blood conditions, however, that cause the cells to collect and clot more aggressively than normal and can persist after liver transplant for which his doctors would have put him on medicines. Untreated for these conditions, budd chiari can recur.
