Synovitis: When you say in your knee, where exactly? A common diagnosis in a 43 y/o male is synovitis or inflammation of the lining of the joint. This can be related to chondromalacia or cartilage wear. Muscle wise, you could have strained the quadriceps muscle which would be one of the more common muscles to irritae on the front of the knee/thigh. Some people can irritate the gastroc muscles at the back.
