Taste Buds: Provided that these bumps are not a symptom of underlying disease, i.e. There is no pain, swelling, bleeding, burning sensation, or discomfort of any kind, they are taste buds. The major test buds are in the posterior part of the tongue. They are called circumvallate papillae and number from 8 to 14.

Usually normal: Red bumps at the back of the tongue can be normal anatomy . If they are enlarged, then diet or hygiene can be an issue. See a provider to get a differential diagnosis.
