Unsure: You might be seeing the circumvallate papillae.These are part of the taste buds of the tongue. If in doubt, see an ENT or oral surgeon to assess.

Big red bumps: Those big red bumps are known as circumvallate papilla--completely normal. But net time you are at the dentist ask him/or her to show them to you.
