What does it mean when you have small red bumps on the back of your tounge?

Most likely normal: The tongue normally has taste buds also called papillae. The largest ones are on the back of the tongue. The only way to be 100% sure that it's all normal is to have a dentist actually take a look.

Tongue anatomy: Small red spots on the back of your tongue are probably circumvallate papilla (taste buds). Check out the drawing at the right and see if that answers your questions.
