It depends: A baby of normal birth weight and full term can be released as soon as feeding is established. A preterm baby can be expected to be discharged near the due date. Some doctors like babies to be at least 4 pounds to leave hospital. Always follow the advice of the infant's doctor. Congratulations on your new baby!
