Reply: If the baby is born after 38weeks of pregnancy then weight is usually not the criteria for discharge from hospital unless other.Usual discharge is 3 days after a c- section and 2 days after vaginal delivery. Doctors make sure that baby is feeding well, has passed urine and first stool and observe for jaundice. Usually babies loose weight during the first week rather gaining, due to water loss.
