Viral uri: Your symptoms and negative strep test more likely support a diagnosis of a viral upper respiratory tract infection. This may last for 2-3 weeks and palliative treatment is recommended including rest, plenty of clear liquids, tylenol (acetaminophen) for aches, pains, & headaches, decongestants, cough suppressants, mucolytics, and reduced physical activity.
