Yes: There are rapid strep tests that can be done in the office to make sure you do not have strep throat. It may not be strep throat but a culture of the throat would tell one way or the other.

Your symptoms: at the present time suggest viral upper respiratory tract infection. You probably will be able to handle it with the otc medications doing symptomatic treatment including salt water gargle. But if situation changes such as developing fever, severe sore throat then see your doctor you need rapid strep throat test , throat culture and antibiotic.
