Obstruction: Obstruction of lumen o appendix due to infection , fecolith or stone like hard stool , or worms etc will cause appendicitis.

Not known: Why or how acute appendicitis. One theory is enlargement of lymph nodes that block lumen of the appendix, but this is unproven.
