If my teenage daughter gets sharp pains in her side and has some symptoms of appendicitis, what is the danger? she is 15 and just recently got the sharp pains in her side. she can't stand because it hurts so bad.

This : This is an emergency situation. If in fact appendicitis is the cause of her symptoms then there is a chance that the appendix has ruptured or will rupture. Once this happens then there is a very high chance the infection that was contained in the appendix will now spread to the blood, and this is considered a life threatening condition. This case and any case that sounds similar should have a low threshold for emergency evaluation. I hope all is well with your daughter.

Concerns: Young females may have periodic discomfort from ovaries, bleeding, mittleschmirtz?Sp as well as GI issues, from appendicitis, ileitis, meckel's diverticulum etc. Needs real exam full history- keep a log of time/ area/ other things going on.
