Of course hope: You are in the shock of being diagnosed with a lifelong, chronic disease. First is to get your status under control. This means not only things like your blood sugar and blood chemistries, but your mind set about having a chronic health problem. You are not to blame, but have to come to accept the new challenge your life has given you. It's ok and good to ask for help through this!

Yes!: Hey! My 14 year old has type one diabetes and she's doing great! It's overwhelming at first, then you will probably feel angry for a while. I was angry for the first two years solid. But there are faster insulins, continuous glucose monitors, and new pumps coming out that will make your life easier. There are trials ongoing for "bionic pancreas" which may be approved in the next 5 years!
