Type : Type 1 diabetes is a problem where your body doesn't make enough insulin. It's more commonly found in young people and the cause is uncertain although fortunately there is tremendous research going on to find out. The pancrease (pancrelipase) doesn't make adequate Insulin supplies for your body. Type 2 diabetes is usually found in older people and the problem is that your body isn't sensitive to the effects of Insulin so your blood sugar goes up even though you have a lot of Insulin in your body. The good news about type 2 is you get control of your disease. Lose weight, exercise, eat the right stuff ( dodge the "whites"- potatoes, sugar, flour, rice) and you can make tremendous strides in controlling it without a lot of medicines. The type 1 diabetes use very small doses of Insulin (compared to the type2s) and have very labile blood sugars- type 2s don't do that so much. Some medications for them overlap but in general the type 1s need Insulin and type 2s don't.

Susceptibility: The working explanation for type 1 (T1) is an autoimmune reaction triggered by a gut virus. For some reason, these individuals develop antibodies that attack insulin production cells in the pancreas.Once the antibodies have destroyed insulin production,T1 develops.Kids get more such infections.Adults have had & become immune to most, without becoming T1 but still could get T1.
