People: With t1 diabetes don't make their own insulin. The rapid acting Insulin is designed to cover the food you eat with a meal and keep your sugar from going up too high when you eat. You also need a basal Insulin like Lantus (insulin glargine) once daily to cover overnight and inbetween meal glucoses.
