A member asked:

Why does injecting insulin into the same location cause a hard bump to form in that area? is this reaction the reason ports arent used?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin bumps: AlyxF ~ the bump is body reaction to a foreign material being injected into same place. Fibrous tissue cause bump and less absorption, so rotate injection site to prevent. Ports are used for continuous infusion pumps and are directly into the vein. Not used for IM or SC shots thanks
