Before panicking: And get all wound up, need to repeat the blood pressure readings and using the right size cuff. Also are there any signs and symptoms that are concerning before making conclusions . May need dietary counselling and exercise. If indeed high and out of control, despite under treatment and care of a physician then, it will be dangerous

Concerning: Its not dangerous , but concerning, however to diagnose high blood pressure we need more than one reading, and your son should be relaxed with no stress when he does them, if he has multiple blood pressure readings that are consistently elevated, then he should see a doctor...

HBP in a son: I have some questions, how old is your son? Is he overweight? Does he smoke? If you son is younger than 25, his hbp may be due to secondary causes. If it is consistently elevated at a that age, he may have secondary hypertension. Ask his doctor to evaluate him for that. If he is > 25, without the risk factors i asked about and is BP is consistently elevated, he will need some BP medication.
