A member asked:

Can you explain how the body produces glucose in response to fasting?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The pancreas: Produces glucagon which stimulates the liver to release glucose into the circulation. There are numerous other mechanisms, but this is the most important. Your body is very sophisticated and has many mechanisms to keep it normal during fasting -- otherwise you wouldn't be able to sleep at night without expiring.
