A member asked:

I have a fasting glucose test soon. i get extremely nervous before tests - heart pounds and body floods with adrenaline. would this affect the result of the blood test and would taking a 5mg valium affect the result? (i am not diabetic.) thanks.

No worries: If a person's fasting blood glucose is higher than desired, a non-fasting HbA1c test can be done to reveal the average blood sugar over the past 3 months. Pre-diabetes or diabetes can be diagnosed in patients, regardless of whether they are anxious, normal, or depressed. So, no worries!
