Garlic: Has many nutrient substances, including a marvelous derivative of vitamin b1 that is created in the bulb only after it is crushed or cut. Ginger is more obscure but is invariably served with sushi and japanese people are very knowledgeable. It "clears the palate" and is a carminative that "settles" the stomach.
