Dr. Denny Cho answered

No time.: Blood clots may not form properly and can even be lost in as little as an hour. Once the blood clot has formed it takes a couple of day for it to heal in.

They start healing: Blood clots are the first step in the healing process. Over time, a blood clot will start laying down fibers which develop into gum tissue. So the clot itself only lasts a short time. The entire healing process should take from four to six weeks.
