Close watching: It is probably ok, and there really is nothing that can be done to prevent a miscarriage if it is about to happen. But with increasing HCG levels, and only very light spotting, i would think this more placental implantation.

Bleeding: What you have just described is a clot behind the placenta. That's a fairly common finding in pregnancy. No worries. Try not to do excessive work or lift heavy loads, do what you can in other words.
