Fluid: Effusion means fluid that escapes... So in your case, minimal joint effusion is just that, a small amount of fluid has entered the joint and made it minimally swollen.

Slight fluid: Slight fluid, which in an inflammatory arthritis is an indication of continued disease activity.

Fluid : There is typically some degree of fluid in every synovial joint. An effusion is abnormal fluid beyond the normal amount. Minimal would mean there is some fluid in joint perhaps slightly more that normal.
