Not exactly clear: If a reconstructive procedure is being performed to get better head coverage where the articular surfaces are fairly normal, a replacement would seem fairly aggressive. Multiple surgeries on a hip may increase risks of infection, and heterotrophic ossification. Ambulation is generally hoped to improve over pre- operative status with any surgery done to lower extremities. At least that's the goal.
