Different problems: Essure is done to prevent pregnancy. It does not affect your periods. Heavy periods are very common for women in their late 30-40's. While a hysterectomy is certainly an option ask your doctor if you are a candidate for endometrial ablation. This is a simple office procedure that can solve the problem in minutes without major surgery.

Possible: The essure would not have anything to do with the cycle. It would not be expected to make you have less pain or bleeding, and should not cause any increase. Your doctor can tell you the treatment options available for your problems, and that may very well include a hysterectomy.
