Internal Medicine 32 years experience
It is tough: It is very challenging diagnosing teenagers with bipolar disorder . The most important point is to look in to the severity and persistence of symptoms. The longitudinal course of the illness ( the illnes through time) will give us a very important clue whether the behavioral and mood disturbance is due to bipolar or harmless developmental issue.
