Also known as:: Chilblains is also known as pernio. It's a form of hypersensitivity to cold exposure. Typically presents as painful red or purplish areas on the feet and/or hands. In severe or recurrent cases underlying causes such as lupus or an abnormal protein in the blood that predisposes to clotting (e.g.; cryoglobulins) should be ruled out.
