With anxiety disorders what else should i be looking for?

Anxiety disorders: Anxiety is usually a symptom of chronic stress or depression. If depression is present, it should be treated, either with counseling or medication. Other conditions that can be associated with anxiety are an overactive thyroid gland, certain drugs (speed), medications (ssris), and foods (caffeine). Non-drug approaches can be very helpful--meditation, counseling, muscle relaxation, and exercise.

Depression: As anxiety can be the presenting symptom of depression it is a good idea to screen for an underlying depression. Some non-psychological medical problems can also present with feelings of anxiety so a competent physical evaluation is a good idea.
