Pocket of pus: An abscess is an enclosed area of pus due to infection. In the brain this is usually bacterial, sometimes related to sinusitis, dental disease, and other associated illnesses.

Brain Infection: Brain abscesses are infections in the brain. Like a boil on skin. Bacteria and fungi are the most likely causes. Treated with antibiotics and when necessary drainage. Bugs get into brain from blood flow, sinus infections and through fractures.
