Rib cage: Location of pain middle to left side rib is above kidney location. Make sure you have no shingle rash. Have cxr, rib cage xr , mid thoracic and also kub x-ray. That will you give you an idea. It can be simple musculoskeletal pain but it is only ruled in when other serious heart and lung conditions are ruled out. Recurrence of kidney stone is one of the possibilities. Good luck.
