Bursitis?: I'm not sure where you're saying the bursitis pain is. Upper back? Regardless, no, bursitis' do not change sides. A bursitis doesn't migrate. It is an inflammation of a fluid sac called a bursa. The inflammatory pain can increase and decrease from day to day, but can't jump from one place to another. Since you're referring to your back, i'd have to recommend being seen by a spine specialist.
