A member asked:

Following partial removal of tvt sling, if patient develops invasive recurring candidiasis and bacterial infection around mesh and in bladder, what is the treatment? must remaining mesh be removed?

Probably: Any time a foreign material (such as a mesh in this case) becomes infected or there is an infection in the area, it is nearly impossible to cure the infection. There is no blood supply to the mesh -- and so you cannot get high enough anti-bacterial (or fungal) doses to that area. Since the sling was removed, maybe a small amount has remained? Sorry.

Mesh infection: It sounds like the mesh may be the problem, but before i say - to be removed or not, you will need to discuss it with the doc who did the surgery, since he may be aware of things that you and i aren't.
