Treat cause: Back pain that isn't treated properly grows into a monster that ruins lives, and places unnecessary burdens on families. Your mom will need to address her pain issues along side her medication problem. A pain management doctor should be of great service to you before this gets completely out of hand and she is arrested.

Opiate addiction: I feel very strongly about this. She needs to be in a medical setting for detox. Very few people can detox safely at home with this history. The detox center can give her the medications to ease the process. But, she then has to come to terms with her brain and the disease of addiction. This is a marvelous but difficult process to health and sobriety.
