A member asked:

Sister just diagnosed with primary parahyperthyroidism. what to expect next and what is prognosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hyperparathyroidism: I presume you mean primary hyperparathyroidism, which is most commonly caused by an abnormal growth of one of 4 parathyroid glands in the neck. As someone who had the condition myself many years ago, i can assure you that the prognosis is generally excellent. Surgical removal of the enlarged parathyroid gland is almost always curative.
