Soak: Soak it in warm water and see a podiatrist. A portion of the nail may need to be removed to resolve the problem.

Soak...see the Doc: Begin soaking your toe in a white vinegar/water (1:4 ratio) solution and contact your podiatrist. The vinegar solution will help reduce the degree of pain and as an acid counters the basic ph that occurs with the pus. If you notice streaking moving towards the foot (eg. Cellulitis), that becomes more an emergent and needs to be seen in the urgent care/er.
