It is the diet: It is the diet not the exercise program that will make you lode weight. P90X is a great program and I have done it many times and find it to be the best execise I have done. What I would suggest is starting with the Beachbody Ultimate Reset diet first and you will lose 10-25 lbs in 21 days and you can do light exercise at the same time.
