A member asked:

I have pco and my insuline is perfect but my doctor is recommending me to have metformin (glucophahe) should i have it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: The most common cause for pcos is Insulin resistance. This is not diagnosed by obtaining an Insulin level, but rather by correctly diagnosing pcos. It is typically also associated with high triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, hypertension, mildly elevated fasting glucose. Metformin is one of the best treatments for pcos in combination with a low carbohydrate diet and exercise.
