SOME THOTS: Not uncommon to develop a painful peripheral neuropathy with type 2 diabetes, and this symptomatology is caused by small fibre involvement. The elevated sed rate is likely due to the diabetes. Your metformin could interfere with b-12 absorption, and this needs checking. Why sural nerve biopsy, as more info available from skin punch biopsy?Maybe medical food metanx can benefit.
