Heart palpitations: It sounds like you may be experiencing heart palpitations or premature heart beats, which are very common and not usually something to worry about. From your history it seems you smoke and may have anxiety issues, both of which predispose one to heart palpitations. Try to reduce stress and stop smoking. A doctor can examine you to provide a formal diagnosis and run an ekg to provide reassurance.

Many causes: There could be many reasons for the funny feeling you are having. Some may even be noncardiac, for example a spasm of your esophagus. Many people have this feeling due to extra beats from the top or bottom chamber of your heart. The great majority are not dangerous. You should have an ekg done and if necessary a 24 hour monitor to see what is going on electrically in your heart at these times.
