A type of staph: Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus - this is a bacteria. It is a type of bacteria called staph, that has been tested in a laboratory to see what antibiotics may or may not kill it. If it is truly mrsa, this means many of the usual antibiotics used may not work to clear up this bacteria. You can't just look at the pus or source and know it is MRSA - it has to be tested in a lab.
