Cause/Effect: Bleeding of any type including menstrual can cause anemia (low hemoglobin), but anemia does not cause bleeding. Need to follow the causality (vs association/correlation). Also, there are many types and causes of anemia. Not always from bleeding (or iron loss).

Unlikely. : An fe deficiency state severe enough to cause missed periods would be associated with a significant anemia, and like one from which you would be experiencing noticable symptoms. If you are experiencing irregularities in your periods, particularly if they were once normal in quality, frequency, and duration, you need to see your physician. They may refer you to an ob/gyn or endocrinology specialist.
