A member asked:

Since taking calcium 1200 mg + d3 1000 iu have constipation, two pills with meal. diagnosed with severe osteoporosis just started the regimen. any sug?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Calcium can: Cause constipation. Citrate is generally less of a problem than carbonate. Don't take it all with one meal, split the dose with several meals and make sure you get in sufficient fiber and water. Check w/your doctor for further info. Vitamin d dose is probably too low as most need 2000 units of d3/day. Won't cause constipation. If your osteoporosis is severe you probably need other rx as well.
